NH BAR FOUNDATION FUNDS NEW MEDIATION BROCHURE
This Spring the Coalition released a new brochure titled “What You Should Know About Domestic Violence and Mediation.” The brochure provides an overview of current state law regarding mediation in divorce and custody cases, what mediation is, the different settings in which mediation can take place, the pro’s and con’s for victims and their right to opt out of the process.
The need for this brochure is a result of changes in the divorce and custody statutes which encourage all parties involved in such proceedings to first take part in mediation. These changes will have a significant effect on victims and survivors of domestic violence and their children. There are numerous issues that victims/survivors need to consider before deciding whether to take part in mediation. As an advocacy organization, the NHCADSV seeks to educate victims with as much information as possible to help guide them through the process.
